Lelo Manoto: Cooking up a culinary storm

Did you know Chef Lelo cut her chops in the corporate world for 10 years before embarking on a journey in the culinary arts in 2015? After being retrenched three years ago, the 32-year old Diepkloof native decided to pursue her love of cooking and registered to study at the Prue Leith Chefs Academy.

It has been a difficult journey, but today she’s a sought-after private chef carving out a name for herself and working alongside internationally renowned chefs like Lesego Semenya and Benny Masekwameng.

Her skills are not limited to cooking, she also has a keen eye for food styling, consults for hotels and restaurants and conducts cooking classes. Lelo’s is a true story of rising against the odds and we’re so inspired by her fighting spirit and ability to reinvent herself.

She says: “I want to be remembered as the girl who didn’t listen to the noise and followed her heart.”

Follow your heart and forget the noise. Let’s support her incredible talent and help make her dream of hosting her own cooking show a reality.
