Meet the multifaceted Anele Nzimande. The Durban-born law graduate has a passion for social activism and justice and is also the founder of clothing brand Aluna. Her love of fashion stems from the belief that the body is a canvass for different types of expression. “I wanted to make clothes that are timeless with flowing silhouettes that people can dress up or down,” Anele says.
Launched in April 2017, Aluna Clothing designs classic pieces for women and every woman is likely to find an item that caters to them. The fashion line is growing steadily and has participated in several 27 Boxes pop up events as well as the #FashionMeetsJazz event hosted at the Orbit in Braamfontein. Anele wants Aluna Clothing to grow and redefine the fashion landscape in South Africa.
She wants to create clothes that make a powerful political statement and can be passed down from generation to generation. Look out for Aluna Clothing’s stunning pieces coming soon to major stores and at pop up events around Joburg.
