This is 39-year-old Evenes Mafupa, the businesswoman behind Nashe Organics, a natural hair care line owned by Natural Moisture. Evenes began her natural hair journey seven years ago before it was fashionable to do so and like many others, she struggled to find healthy products to maintain her hair. She launched the company and online store in 2013.
Natural Moisture is a company run by women, employing women and spearheading the role of women in commerce. The company manufactures a variety of products for ‘kinky, coily hair’ that are paraben, silicone, and sulphate free.
Evenes, who is also a natural hair blogger, was able to launch her business using her savings and today runs it full-time from their offices in Edenvale.
Nashe, which mean with the king in Shona, also runs a beauty studio in the same space. She says the company differentiates itself from its competitors by ensuring efficient same day delivery or within three days once payment is received. I am a firm believer in being the solution to our problems by contributing to creating the world we would love to live in, no matter how small the contribution may be.
“I aspire to be an industrialist and run a manufacturing plant for Nashe Organics and other brands that we will launch in future,” says Evenes. She advises young people not to let self-doubt stop them from testing out their ideas.
“You will only know if something works or doesn’t if you try it. Those who don’t do anything can’t fail.” We love a woman who isn’t afraid to dream big.
