This is 31-year old author and entrepreneur Tiisang Masoko from Pella Matlhako in the North West. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) degree in Informatics from the University of Pretoria, as well as a BCom in economics and informatics from the University of the North West and her next goal, is an MBA.
Like many graduates, she thought she would embark on a corporate career until she began writing her book in 2015 as a way of coping with stress. Her book, titled Aspire to Inspire – Diary of Healing a Heart, is about a young woman’s journey of love and pain and how she went from victim to victor.
Tiisang says her biggest challenge has been marketing and creating awareness for her brand within her preferred target market. She says she wants to be remembered as a woman who made things happen and whose actions were aligned with her words. More importantly, she wants to prove to young people growing up in villages that their dreams are valid and should not be undermined because of their background.
While she has found support, Tiisang says as a young black businesswoman the struggle lies in collaborating with people who share the same vision as you. With one book under her belt, she’s already started working on her second book.
